You are on the right page if a locked reward sits beside a sign with two four-digit numbers. The sign is not a keypad code. If your group has only just left the starting area, the correct move is usually to mark the puzzle and come back after gaining the island navigation tool.

Before you start

You need a way to read the island grid. Community guides agree that the portable map obtained through the Red Tower and Map Room route can do this; PC Gamer also reports a coordinate-display item as another way to interpret the clue. If neither is available, do not split the group to guess at scenery yet.

Need that prerequisite? Follow the Walkthrough for the low-spoiler progression choice, then use the Map once a player can read the grid.

Low-spoiler hints

Show hint 1: what kind of clue is this?

The two values describe a place on the island. Keep them in the same order when your group talks about them.

Show hint 2: what should the group bring?

Bring a map or coordinate-reading tool, and keep one player near the locked reward. The group will need both locations covered at once.

Show hint 3: how close should you search?

Use the grid to narrow the pair to a search area, then let the terrain and a nearby travel landmark guide the final approach. Do not expect the sign itself to reveal a fixed button image.

Complete solution

Show the complete solution
  1. Complete the Red Tower route and pick up the portable map from the Map Room, or use the coordinate display if your group has found it.
  2. Read 4166 / 1899 as the two grid readings and travel to their intersection. Community sources place the target in the south-central island area, near the railway and chairlift route.
  3. Leave at least one player at the locked case. Send another player to search the rock face in the target area for the concealed interaction.
  4. Hold that interaction while the player at the original case checks it. The case opens for the waiting player to take the reward.

How to know it worked

The success feedback is physical: the locked case opens while the remote interaction is held, allowing the teammate at the original clue to collect its reward. Check the case first; reaching a plausible landmark alone is not the completion signal.

If it did not open

  1. Confirm one person is still at the original case before searching again.
  2. Re-read the two values from the sign instead of transposing them in a voice call.
  3. Re-check the nearby rock faces and terrain from the grid target; the cited guides describe the interaction as easy to miss.
  4. If the group cannot yet read the grid, stop searching and return to the Map after the Map Room route is available.

The sources do not establish a penalty for checking the wrong location, so there is no need to restart the wider route or redo completed puzzles solely because this case stayed closed.

Where to go next

After collecting the reward, return to the Walkthrough to choose the next useful regional objective. If you are still learning the map interface or want to compare landmarks before splitting up, return to the Map. This page is intentionally noindex until its interaction and recovery behavior are replayed on the current game version.
