Purple Puzzles are seven optional, more demanding versions of familiar Big Walk challenges. You are in the right place if you see a purple reward in the southern part of the island, or a room feels like a puzzle your group has already learned with one important support removed. They are not required for a first route choice, so it is fine to save them until the group has more shared puzzle vocabulary.
Start without a solution
Community reporting places all seven in the southern map area. You can reach that area after the Green Tower chairlift unlock, or by travelling around the southeast coast. The same report recommends learning the easier counterpart first: each purple challenge raises the communication load, time pressure, distance, or number of choices instead of teaching a completely new system.
Use the Map to orient the group before hunting for a particular room. If your group is deciding whether optional puzzles are the right next task, return to the spoiler-light Walkthrough first.
Recognise the seven challenge types
| What your group sees | Low-spoiler read on the challenge |
|---|---|
| A long timer | The familiar wait becomes a much longer commitment. |
| A heavy ball and a distant hole | The original carry objective still applies, but the trip is longer. |
| Lights in one room and controls in another | Accurate live callouts matter more than remembering a pattern. |
| Speakers with no intercom | Find a non-verbal way to describe rhythm and pitch. |
| Symbols or poses separated by glass | Establish a shared visual language before submitting. |
| An obstacle course with an immediate timer | Prepare roles before triggering the run. |
| A dense rack of similar signs | Slow down and make each abstract symbol unambiguous. |
Complete route and methods
Show the complete route and methods for all seven purple puzzles
- Timer: start the purple timer only when the group can leave the session running for the full wait. The cited guide shows a nearly thirty-minute countdown, so treat it as a commitment rather than a quick retry.
- Golf: carry the heavy ball to the purple hole. The action is the same as the earlier golf puzzle, but the destination is much farther away.
- Light and button rooms: assign a player to observe the live light position and a partner to use the corresponding controls. Larger groups can relay the callout through the window; do not substitute a remembered sequence for the current display.
- Speaker room: without an intercom, use gestures through the glass to communicate the sound. Polygon’s example is tapping a beat and moving a hand up or down for pitch.
- Posing challenge: communicate the displayed symbol through the window. A practical source example is tracing its shape with your hands on the glass.
- Obstacle course: set the group before triggering the course because the timer waits at the beginning. Then complete the same course under that added time pressure.
- Symbol-sign challenge: describe the selected abstract sign precisely and match it from the much larger sign set. There are 36 options rather than the nine used by the easier version.
How to know a purple puzzle is complete
Each successful challenge releases its purple reward. Check for the released reward before moving on; a plausible route, a finished timer display, or a teammate reaching a landmark does not by itself prove that the puzzle has paid out.
Recovery when the group stalls
- A timer or course attempt falls apart: reset the team plan before starting another run. The source supports the added time pressure, but does not establish a universal reset rule or a persistence guarantee.
- A communication puzzle becomes noise: return to the lower-pressure version of that puzzle type and agree on concise position, shape, rhythm, or direction words first.
- The southern route is the problem: stop guessing which path you missed and use the Map for the region, then return here to choose a challenge by what is visible.
This guide does not publish a fixed endgame route, reward use, or completion claim beyond the seven challenges. The cited sources support the challenge set and methods, but this site has not replayed every purple interaction on the listed version.
